the Duck Pond
How naked can a chicken get?
A fully clothed banty rooster and a very naked molting hen.
Trying to cool off in triple digit temperatures
One of my turken roosters.
Gathering around the cooling pond for a relaxing end of the day.
The chickens enjoy the pond as much as the ducks do. Panting and holding the wings out help in staying cool.
One of the young drakes enjoying the 'beach' area. It is not so deep in this area to make it safe for the chickens.
Gracie shaking dry after his swim. The water is from a leak in the pond the ducks made.
That's water next to Gracie is pond water not anti-freeze.
This is Mama Hen with baby Peek-a-boo. This hen was broody for so long that I had to let her hatch an egg. I have no idea who laid the egg.
Mama Hen talks to her baby a lot especially if I put something really neat (to a chicken) to the pen. I put small mesquite branches in the chicken pens
for a special treat. Mama Hen starts talking to her baby. When I changed the water container, there were bugs under the plastic container. She really talked to 'her' baby to tell her this was a
special delicacy.
The ducks enjoy bath time when I'm adding fresh water to their pond.
